“He’s class for an old guy isn’t he?”, “Wow – wasn’t expecting that from him” and “I would loved to have seen him in his prime!”.

What do all these commonly uttered statements have in common I hear you ask?

Philip Miller.

These are just a few examples of some quotes heard from ONA fans at games in the past couple of seasons when watching the The Old Goat work his magic.  What he severely lacks in pace he makes up for in spades with quality, creativity, composure and dry wit.

As one of the oldest players in the league (and most probably the region), it was only a matter of time before the Novos veteran looked to pastures new and an opportunity to extend his career by playing a game at a slower, more manageable pace was always on the cards…

“Phil has been a stalwart of this club for years and so when he approached me to discuss this opportunity there was only ever going to be full support from myself and everyone at Old Novocastrians FC.” – Jamie Hansell, Chairman.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce a co-registration deal with Wallsend Over 40’s and look forward to seeing the improvements in Miller’s performances and morale following his big move.

We wish him the best of luck and look forward to watching him undoubtably succeed amongst his new peers.
