Recap

Novos win today started yesterday. Having watched the GOAT’s team performance outshine the individual efforts of the Novos Bohemians.
The losing players, despite being at a wedding felt they had a point they had to prove. @⁨Josh Spurling⁩ who had sensibly declared himself as unavailable, after some prompting, was in.
@⁨Chris Rush⁩ who struggled to breathe yesterday at times was ready to go. @⁨Sal Sinawi⁩ texted me at 01:00 to say he was home.
@⁨Charlie Young⁩ and GOAT fan boy @⁨Ryan Williams⁩ had kept themselves in check with a golf day after football.
@⁨Greg Applegarth⁩ and @⁨Oli Young⁩ resisted temptation after their respective Saturday sports. The rest of us old buggers don’t drink and Sunday.
I asked Novos to stop talking a good game before kick off and deliver one and that’s what they did.
Press, fast, early, and hard was the game plan. Everyone bought into the plan.
Seghill cudnt get time on the ball.
Rugby player turned centre forward @⁨Will Haigh⁩ had led the rallying call well before kick off. Which he backed up on the pitch. Having taught himself to make runs in behind was an early menace to Seghill.
A sober @⁨Oli Young⁩ showed why cramlington Utd had signed him today. His press to win the ball and unselfishness to square the ball for @⁨Greg Applegarth⁩ to score set us on our way. Haigh, broke down the right to cut back to Greg who shot was turned in a yard out by Hansell.
At the back Seghill started to get in. But tackle after tackle came from the defence inspired in the first half by @⁨Gav Coleman⁩. When they did break through @⁨Chris Pattinson⁩ was more than equal to the task.
@⁨Charlie Young⁩ won the ball and distributed it well on many an occasion. @⁨Ryan Williams⁩ always got in front or fouled his man so they cudnt get past.
After Haigh again drove down the right. Hansell put Novos 3-0 up, after his initial shot was saved he lobbed the keeper and the defenders on the line. This is what he had intended against XMP when he was made to look very silly.
Oli led another aggressive press that led to their keeper passing the ball to @⁨Greg Applegarth⁩ to slot home for 4-0.
A short corner allowed Greg to almost get his hatrick but as his effort came back of the inside of the post, @⁨Sal Sinawi⁩ slammed home.
Half time 5-0 what a performance.
We were never going to keep the effort levels up and the second half quickly descended into attack V defence on both sides.
Ryan escaped a booking due to a quick free kick. The ref then asked me to have a word. I pointed out he was off to play golf so shudnt be a problem.
Seghill scored first after the ref failed to give a clear back pass. As we protested they played on.
@⁨Micheal Carling⁩ and @⁨Simon Campbell⁩ came on to add to our defence in a game that was now end to end.
Physical Haigh in behind again bundled the ball home after coming into contact for a deserved goal.
Greg had a chance to return Oli’s favour from the first half. Luckily for him the keepers save was a tap in for Oli.
Angry post Saturday@⁨Josh Spurling⁩ decided to take everyone on from the left wing! Before curling a lovely ball home.
Both sides could have scored more. Tiredness became a factor. The result put Novos in third after the three games. With a very winnable game next week to Ponteland who lost 1-0 to Seghill recently.
